Rush for forest tourist cach

Filed under: Introduction — parto @ 12:45 pm

Investors are streaming into Kenya for a slice of the business provides: exotic sites where local and International tourists can sample the best. As land for such ventures becomes scarce ,forests have been the main target, with more people encroaching and squatting in gazetted forests- and in the process destroying the fragile ecosystem. Communities, through the Community Forest Association , are now warming up to the idea of starting Eco-tourism ventures to generate income while at the same time conserving forests.

The Kenya Forest Service (KFA) opened the country’s gazetted forests for investors to put up five-star hotels. This is aimed at earning revenue for the state agency and boosting the country’s chances of attracting high net worth tourists. More than 200 sites have been marked as potential Eco -tourism centres throughout the country and investors will be required to put up low density Eco- tourism facilities to attract the high – spending nature loving tourists.

Activities which can be caried out in the forests include bird watching , water rafting, fishing, trekking, and mountain climbing. Nature lovers will be the main target for the eco – tourism which will not conflict with the operations of the Kenya Wildlife Service. The drive will also attract conservators and well wishers who will provide more resources for conservation.
