All rooms at the Hemingways Resort have stunning sea views, stylishly furnished and the suites are extremely comfortable. All the superior rooms, deluxe rooms, junior suites, and executive suites have bathrooms and showers en-suite, within yards of the beach and benefit from 24 hour room service. There is air-conditioning and fans throughout, & rooms also have mosquito nets, personal safes and room fridges. Activities Bird watching – at Hemingways we are blessed with 2 excellent areas within a few miles of the hotel: Mida creek where you may see the African fish eagles, flamingos, yellow-billed storks, several species of ibises and many more and Sokoke forest (home to the Sokoke Scops owl) Dhow Trips - The Mida creek reserve is formed of extensive mangrove forests, warm shallow waters and large areas of mud flats at low tide. Sandy islands separates by narrow channels winding through mangrove-covered islands form the edges of this large inter-tidal creak. Mida is one of the few places in Kenya where you are able to watch the sunset over water and the sunset cruises offer spectacular views. Our Beautiful traditional Arabic dhow sets sail in this stunning area. The boat is made completely out of wood and offers both an upper and lower deck on which to relax while our staff serve you cocktails and delicious snacks Fishing – Hemingways is the Ideal venue for your first big-game fishing trips, owing to the diverse nature of the Indian Ocean. The Watamu area boasts a large number of fishing grounds of widely differing nature, all within a short steam of port. The abundance and variety of fishing of Watamu is particularly important for the first-time big-game fisherman. Windsurfing & Kayaks – for water loving enthusiasts, Watamu is very well equipped with windsurfing, sailing, pedaloes, kayaks, canoes, snorkeling and diving all easily accessed from Hemingways beach front. Snake farm – Bio Ken is a local research center which deals in reptiles especially snakes and snake bites. Located less that five minutes drive from Hemingways, this makes an interesting and educational visit as well making an important contribution to this important local service.
